Lights and darkness

Standing in the dark, Tuesday morning, I yell down the stairs..."HUB! The lights are out again!"

'Not to worry...I'll get right on that.'

Wednesday morning I walk out to the garage...grab the handy 8ft ladder...haul it into the house and lean it against the living room wall.

His eyes never leave the tv and I hear... 'So I gather you want the lights changed?'

"Ahhhh nothing gets past you, does it?"

'Don't worry, I'll get to it.'

Friday night I'm still walking in the dark at bedtime.

Hitting my foot again...I lean down and grab my toe while encouraging Hub!

"Son of a b****!!"

Hobbling, I get to the bottom of the stairs...

Opening my eyes, I look up and see my man of 40+ years...'You breathin?'

Saturday morning I arrive in the kitchen and see Hub strutting around like a peacock...

'Notice anything new?'

"You did dishes? Laundry?"

'Well noooo. But I did change the lights for you AND I took the ladder back to the garage!'

Checking my watch..."It's 8 in the morning and no I haven't needed to turn on the lights yet but, tonight, when I do, I'll be sure to thank you."

Turning round I catch my toe on the livingroom ottoman..."Son of a b*****!"

'You know Linda, maybe the lights weren't the problem at all.

Maybe it's just the way you walk!'

Vacation in Canada is over for 2015

I've just returned from my annual trek back to Canada to see the gbabies, family and friends. Fabulous time but now I'm back to real life..sun, sand and the heat! Retirement can be hell.
So, after opening the front door I do a quick survey of the ground floor and turn to Hub..."I see you've been shopping while I was away."

'Just a bit.'

I walk over to the kitchen and lift an item, asking..."Well this is new! Can I ask how long this new guitar really is going to stay on the kitchen counter? I mean, it will make it a little difficult to cook in here unless you're planning on serenading me."

Struggling with my overweight luggage he explains...'Well, it's the only high, flat place I could find.'

Grabbing hold of the door jam, to stop my head from spinning I ask..."And your clothes? There isn't a chair that doesn't have your shirts or shorts hanging off the back... Why?"

'It's just easier to get dressed down here, in the livingroom. You know, after I shower!' as he points to the outdoor shower we had installed for him.

Heading upstairs to unload my carry on luggage, I immediately come back downstairs. Grabbing Hub by the hand we head up to the bedroom.

'Now we're talking!!!' he mumbles as he dances around by himself.

"Calm down Cassanova. Can you explain that?" as I point at the bed.

Unable to contain his laughter...'Has it really been that long since you left Linda? Don't you remember what our bed's for?'

" Have you even made it since I've been gone?"

'Well there's really no reason to make it since I get into it each night.'

Where do you guys come up with this reasoning??? grrrrrrrrrrrr

Later I see Hub sitting at the computer. "Can you explain this other, huge purchase you have hanging on our floor lamp, in the livingroom?"

Turning his head slightly, he then goes back to the computer and explains...'It's a bug zapper. There was a mosquito in the house while you were gone, so I bought it.'

"OMG it's huge!!! Was the house infested with them?"

'No.'

"So how's this new purchase working for ya?"

'Well actually I'm taking a pro-active stand...when the next one comes in I'll turn it back on.'

"You mean it's not even plugged in?"

'Well hell yeah it's plugged in....

just not turned on.'

Going over to the wall I reach for the best invention for killing any bugs...."Try this AND you don't even have to get up and plug it in!"

Selling a home in Mazatlan

Looking at the ceiling I quietly mutter to myself...“Selling a house anywhere is like watching paint dry.”

Just then Hub walks past me carrying another box...'So...where do you want this one?'

Opening the backdoor I point...“ Garage!”

'And just where do you plan on me putting the car?'

You see, we've done it. We've listed the house. It's a long and boring process...the same as all the other 20 times before... Absolutely nothing moves fast here or anywhere for that matter.

Hub suggests...'maybe you should try moving a few of these boxes and you wouldn't be so, as you say, bored!'

Mulling his comments over I turn and inform him...“Hey, somebody has to direct.”

Back from the holding area in the garage he asks...'Soooo, remind me again, why are we selling our dream house by the water?'

“Because we don't entertain as much as before so, we don't need all this room.”

I hear him rummaging in the kitchen...'Andddd...' .

“And we want a one floor plan.”

I hear him walking up to the rooftop...

'Andddd...'

Yelling up the hallway I ask...“Don't you have some more packing to do?”

Coming down the stairs he continues his line of questioning... 'Come on...anddddd...'

“And we're not getting any younger.”

With great delight he announces loudly...'Ahhh haaaa, you mean you're getting old.'

“Hey, we're in this together, remember! For better or worse etc...” and I feel him grab my arm and pull me up to the roof.

Quickly turning I tell him...“You know we have a viewing in a few days. We can't be dragging our heels!”

Hub turns and opens the rooftop door and I see a chilled bottle of wine and glasses on the table.

“OMG this is sooo thoughtful!”

'I know.'

“And this view is still spectacular!”

Sneaking a quick kiss Hub whispers...'I know!!'

At which point I turn to him...“You do know this still won't get you out of moving the rest of the boxes, right?!”
